Ok everyone....Master Ted will be here THIS Friday! Make plans to attend at least 1 session this weekend....I guarantee you'll learn something. The schedule is posted on the website and on our fan page. Hope to see you there!

KFSS Graduation this Saturday (6/23)

Just wanted to remind everyone that graduation is this Saturday at 9:30a (doors open at 8:30a). The promotion list is on the white board in the workout area.  Even if you are not moving in rank, please join us as this will be the first graduation in our new facility.

As a reminder to the new folks...there will be no regular classes after graduation. Regular classes resume on Monday June 25th.

We have had some really good attendance over the last several weeks and its really good to see students returning we haven't seen in a while.

Saturday Classes at Chisholm Park

As mentioned earlier in the week, we will be holding classes at Chisholm Park (Hurst, TX) this Saturday.  10a Adults, 11:30 Little Kids and Noon Kids.  I'm including a map of the park so you will know where to look for us (close to the basketball courts).  Parking is available close to where we will be.

RKMSF Move to New Location

Our final week at 1325 Brown Trail.....

As some of you may already know...we've hit a snag in our move...during the asbestos inspection (done on the 17th) asbestos was found on the back of the floor tiles that were to be removed for the new flooring.  Because paperwork has to be filed and an abatement issued before the floor work can begin, our opening date will be delayed.

We will still be closing after our forms class on Wednesday 4/25 and be packing and moving 4/27-4/29, however we will not be able to open when we anticipated.  At this time I don't have a good date.  We will be storing out stuff in an adjacent unit at the new location until the work is complete.  Our contractor IS able to continue to do the other work so all that will need to be done once the abatement is received is the floor work, which won't take long.

It is my HOPE we can move into the new location by the 1st weekend in May, however it is more likely it will be the 2nd.

The landlords and I will be working out financial compensation for the delay in our business and I will be discounting May tuition 10%.

This was an unanticipated delay.  If we can figure out a way to hold a few classes while we are closed, I will let everyone know.

RKMSF has always had the very BEST students and we hope you will hang in there with us as we go through this move.

New Location News!

Good Morning Everyone! I hope everyone fared ok thru yesterday's storms. Just wanted to let everyone know what's going on....


Tonight (Wednesday) is Forms, 6:30 so don't forget!

We signed the lease last night on the new location! So the ball is now rolling and we are looking to move the weekend of 4/28 & 4/29. So if you have a truck and can help, please let me know!

Our last class in our current location will be Forms on 4/25 and we should re-open for classes on 4/30 if all goes well. Its going to be a busy and exciting month at RKMSF so stay tuned. The new location is 2831 Central Drive, Bedford, TX. It is located in the same center as the Big Lots and Dollar General, next to the Classic Philly Sub Shop.

Updates Week Ending 3/24

Good afternoon everyone!

Just a few items for this week....

1) Forms class is this Wednesday 3/21 at 6:30.

2)  KFSS Graduation is this Saturday 3/24 at 9:30a.  Doors will open at 8:30.  Please plan to be there and support your fellow students as they grow in the art of Kung Fu.

3)  Weather - This afternoon and this evening's forecast calls for some major storms to blow through this area.  Strong winds and very heavy rain.  The school will be open, but please use your best judgement.  If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at 817-590-8585.

Winter KFSS Graduation

Good afternoon everyone!

It's been a while since I've sent any updates so I thought I'd catch everyone up on what's going on.

Next Forms class is Wednesday 3/21 at 6:30.  This isn't just forms, its about learning to apply what you learn through form in your fighting.  It's a wonderful class and I highly recommend it if you want to push your Kung Fu to the next level.

KFSS Graduation is Saturday March 24th at 9:30 am.  (Doors will open at 8:30...please arrive early to stretch)  The promotions list is posted in the lobby.  PLEASE check it to make sure I got everything right!  Any belt fees are due by 3/22.

As many of you know, we are planning to re-locate the school to a facility located at the corner of Harwood and Central Drive (only about 3 miles from our current location and closer to 121).  As work still needs to be done on the new location, we are looking at mid April to make the move.  As we make the move we will also be making some adjustments to the class schedule.  I will be talking with our parents and students over the next several weeks to see if the schedule we are proposing will be in sync with the majority of our student population.  This will be a good move for the school and we hope you will stick with us as we make the transition.  More to come on this as plans are finalized so stay tuned.

FORMS! Wednesday 2/15

This is forms week.  Adult forms class will be Wednesday 2/15 at 6:30p.  We are working on the new class form so this is an excellent opportunity to be able to focus your attention on just forms. 

Also, if you have not paid your February tuition, please contact me at 817-590-8585.  If you want us to keep our doors open its important that tuition be paid on time.

There are some faces I haven't seen in class in a while...I know life gets really really busy this time of year, but I want to encourage you to make the time to train.  You will find focus and energy you never knew you had!

Forms! Forms! Forms!

Alright everyone!  It was great to see everyone on Saturday!  Master Robert will be back the 1st weekend in February and until he returns, Jason, Jacob and I will be covering the Saturday classes.

Speaking of Jason...that always brings to mind FORMS!  For those who were not here on Saturday, we started a new class form.  Trust me...it's a whole lot easier to get in on the beginning of a form than trying to learn it after everyone else has completed it.  So get to class now!!!

We're going to move the Forms class to the 1st, 3rd and 5th Wednesday's of the month beginning February 1st from 6:30-7:30p.  Since we're starting a new class form, we've decided to open this class up to anyone wanting to really dive into forms and how they relate to fighting.  So plan on attending!

The little kids class on Tuesday's and Saturday's is a big hit!  We have 6 little ones registered and these little ones are just awesome!  If you know someone with a 4-6 year old who really wants to learn Kung Fu, this is the place to start them.  Tuesday's 5:30-6p and Saturday's 11:30a-noon.

HAPPY 2012!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

I hope it was safe and happy for all of you!  It is the beginning of a new year which means a time to refocus and re-prioritize to make sure your Kung Fu gets the attention it needs.  I speak from experience when I say Kung Fu really IS in everything! 

Here's what's coming up:

Regular classes resume today (yes I know its a holiday for lots of folks....but its a good time to get the kids back into the swing of things!).

There is a schedule change on Tuesday's - Instead of Adults at 5:30, we will have a little kid's class (4-6yr old) so now we have two classes for the little ones.  (Saturdays at 11:30 and Tuesdays at 5:30)  There will be no additional charge for those currently enrolled.  Please call me if you have any questions or email me at kris@rkmartialsciences.com.

The rest of our schedule remains the same, so we hope to see everyone in class soon!!!

Christmas Week at RKMSF

Good Morning Everyone!  I just want to say thank you to everyone who came out for KFSS graduation on Saturday.  We had a really great turn out and I know the folks being promoted appreciated it.

We're going into a Holiday week so I want to re-iterate the Holiday Schedule.

RKMSF will be open for regular classes on Monday and Tuesday this week the will close thru 12/30.  We will run ONE (1) Adult Class on 12/31 from 9a to 10:30a for those who need to stretch their legs and work off some Holiday meals. =) Then we will re-open on 1/2 with our regular class schedule.

Master Robert and I want to wish Everyone a very Happy Holiday Season!  We hope to see everyone back in class after the New Year!

RKMSF Thanksgiving Holiday Schedule

Good morning everyone!  Can you believe it?  Next week is Thanksgiving!  We will run a modified schedule next week so please make a note.

• Monday and Tuesday November 21st and 22nd  - Normal class schedules.
• Wednesday - Friday November 23-25 - RKMSF will be CLOSED
• Saturday November 26th - ONE (1) Saturday Adult Class 9a-10:30a (I don't know about you but I'm ready to move around by then and work off the big meals)
•  NO KIDS CLASSES ON SATURDAY
• Monday November 28 - Return to normal class schedule. 

The holiday schedule is also posted on the website calendar.  The December promotions list will be posted by Monday November 21st. 

Don't forget Kid's Movie Night on December 16th.  The movie this year (in keeping with our Kung Fu theme) is Kung Fu Panda 2.

Holiday Homestretch

OK everyone....we're heading into that time of year where EVERYONE (myself included) gets over scheduled, overworked, and over frazzled!  (yes...I said frazzled.)  It's more important than ever to make sure you schedule time to do something for yourself and your family.  Remember that training in Kung Fu is something you do for yourself (and trust me...your family benefits too!). 

The benefits of training regularly are increased focus and awareness, exercise, and an overall sense of well-being.  Training not only at the school but at home makes Kung Fu a way of life. 

Try this...(doesn't matter if you are a child or an adult)
At least once a day find 10-15 minutes and a quiet place to either stretch, do a form, or just focus on breathing.  You will find you have more focus and energy whether you are at work or at school.  If you're like me and sit at a desk during the day...you get pretty stiff and tired.  Taking those 10 minutes helps alleviate physical tension and gives me the energy I need to get through the rest of my day.

We're heading into the homestretch for our December KFSS graduation on December the 17th.  6 weeks left!  We will have some schedule modifications around the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays so be on the look out for those.

We ARE planning a kids movie night in December on the 16th (from 6-9) so make plans to be there!

NO CLASSES Monday 10/31

My informal poll of our Monday class attendees indicated that everyone will be out trick or treating, so we will cancel classes on Monday 10/31.  Everyone have a Happy and Safe Halloween!

Master Robert and I would like to say THANK YOU to everyone who made this weekend with Master Ted a great success!  It was great to see our new friends from Huntsville with Reeder's Kung Fu School.  It's always great to meet new people who share a common interest. 

Many thanks to Jason for making all the travel arrangements and playing host for Master Ted.  We truly have the best students!  And we wouldn't have a school without you!

Look for what we learned this weekend to pop up in classes!  It was some fantastic stuff!  As you go through your week, take time to relax and to breath...it will make a world of difference in your day!

6:30p   Forms Seminar (open to all students, you don't need to know the current class form)

8:30-10:30a  Adult KFSS Instruction by Master Ted (Open to all ranks and disciplines)
11-noon        Kids KFSS with Master Ted
noon to 1       Break for Lunch
1-2:30           Black Belt Class
3-5p              Private Instruction (2 one hour sessions)

9-10a            Hatha Yoga
10-11a          Private Instruction

October Fun!

Thank you to everyone who came out for the KFSS Summer Graduation on Saturday!  It was great to see all the new faces!

As we go into October here are some special details:

We're back to full uniforms (as of 9/26) so everyone get your gi tops out and dust them off.  We may have 1 or 2 more toasty days but they won't even be close to what we endured over the summer.

Cooler Temps on the Horizon?

Only if you consider 96-99 degrees cooler! But hey...after 60+ days of over 100, I'll take it!  That's what the Weather Channel is projecting beginning Thursday...but wait, this is Texas....it will most likely change by tomorrow.  ;-)  Mother Nature keeps teasing us with these little showers, but believe it or not, I heard there should be some good rain coming in a week or so.  THAT will be nice!

Enough about the weather!  Here's what's coming up at RKMSF:

Sept 1 - Tuition is due.

Sept 3-5 - Labor Day Weekend.  No classes Saturday or Monday.  Classes resume on Tuesday.

Sept 24 - KFSS Graduation.  Doors open at 8:30a, Graduation will start at 9:30.  If you are moving from white to yellow belt, please make sure I have your belt fees by the 17th.  Even if you aren't changing ranks, please come and support your fellow students. 

Sept 26 - Fall Quarter begins

October 21-23 Master Ted Sias visits! (NOTE the date change)  We had a schedule conflict come up and had to change the weekend.  I'll be working with Jason and Master Ted to put a schedule of events and prices together over the next couple of weeks.
